I have been seeing a new chiropractor and she confirmed that my shoulder, arm, wrist and hand are in rough condition. This is after years of abuse at a computer and of recent more activity in a sketch pad. She has started some treatment and instructed me to cut back on use and do some regular stretches and exercises. All of this has me thinking about hands and how important they can be. I have known people with disabilities involving hands that range from carpal tunnel to entirely missing. The fact that my hands are still fully functional has me feeling very fortunate. On the flip side (you see how I avoided a bad pun there?) I have considered how I would feel about a permanent injury. So, to sum things up my mind has been on hands and since I have always had a hard time drawing them I decided to practice.
Yes, my arm, shoulder and hand have been hurting too! On top of drawing and making prints I have to do so much work at the computer now – online marking of essays being the biggest new thing. I must find out more about exercises and stretches – great idea!
